Instructions

  • Warm water, sugar, salt, and yeast should all be combined in a large mixing bowl.
  • Allow for a 5-minute rest.
  • Mix in the flour until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for ten minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  • Divide the dough into 8 equal parts and roll each piece into a ball.
  • Make a hole with your finger in each ball and stretch into a bagel shape.
  • Bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil in a large pot.
  • Boil bagels for 30 seconds on each side, one at a time.
  • Place the bagels on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper.
  • Brush bagels with egg mixture made with 1 tablespoon of water.
  • Sesame seeds can be sprinkled on top of bagels.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
