Sourdough Everything Bagels Recipe

These chewy, flavorful sourdough everything bagels are ideal for breakfast or brunch. The sourdough starter gives the dough a tangy flavor, while the everything bagel seasoning gives them a deliciously savoury flavor. They're delicious with cream cheese, butter, or your favourite breakfast sandwich ingredients.

Instructions

  • Combine the sourdough starter, bread flour, salt, honey, and 1/4 cup everything bagel seasoning in a large mixing bowl.
  • Combine thoroughly.
  • Pour in the warm water and knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic.
  • Cover the bowl with a damp towel and place it in a warm place to rise for 1-2 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit (220 degrees Celsius).
  • Divide the dough into 8-10 equal pieces and shape each into a bagel.
  • Allow them to rest for 15 minutes.
  • A large pot of water should be brought to a boil.
  • When the water begins to boil, carefully place the bagels in the pot and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side.
  • Place the bagels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper after removing them from the pot.
  • Top the bagels with the remaining everything bagel seasoning.
  • Bake the bagels for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown, in a preheated oven.
  • Remove the bagels from the oven and set aside for a few minutes to cool before serving.
